‘You’re Wasting Your Time’, Shehu Sani Tells Davido on Threat to Involve Donald Trump over Osun Election
Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani has dismissed afrobeat star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, following the singer’s declaration that he would report any electoral interference in the upcoming Osun State governorship election to U.S. President Donald Trump.
Reacting to the singer’s statement, Sani advised Davido against relying on foreign political figures to influence domestic democratic processes in Nigeria, noting that such appeals yield no impact on local election management or sovereign governance.
The former lawmaker emphasized that electoral outcomes in Nigeria are decided by the votes of citizens and statutory institutions rather than external diplomatic pressure or foreign leaders.
Sani urged political actors and public figures involved in the Osun governorship race to focus their energies on grassroots mobilization, voter sensitization, and engaging key electoral stakeholders at home rather than seeking foreign intervention.
