Online activist Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), is facing a wave of backlash after thousands of his social media followers turned their backs on him over his involvement in the ongoing P-Square family feud.

The controversy stems from VDM’s decision to take Jude Okoye’s side in the dispute involving the Okoye brothers, a stance that has drawn sharp criticism from both celebrities and fans since he first announced he had looked into the matter and would share his findings after speaking with people connected to the crisis.

Nigerian singer Cynthia Morgan has been among the most vocal critics, repeatedly calling out VDM over his position and claiming he only sided with her former label boss, Jude, because she had turned down his friendship. The activist has also faced pushback from other online personalities, with several urging him to steer clear of the family’s private affairs altogether.

Media personality, Radiogad questioned the strength of VDM’s claims, pointing out that despite releasing multiple videos on the saga, much of what he shared centred on conversations with Cynthia Morgan and an encounter with singer Phyno, while Peter Okoye himself had not responded to the allegations.

Liberian actor, Artus Frank also weighed in, urging VDM to back off despite his admiration for the activist’s work, telling him directly that as respected as he is, the Okoye family matter is one battle not worth continuing to fight. Fans piled on as well, with one supporter known as KDC Global insisting that Peter and Paul Okoye were both alive and capable of speaking for themselves without outside interference, referencing Paul’s past remarks about wishing their late mother could defend herself.

As the criticism intensified, a growing number of dissatisfied fans began unfollowing VDM on social media, with the number climbing into the thousands. Rather than staying silent, VDM addressed the mass unfollowing directly, admitting he had made a mistake and apologising to the thousands of people who had supported and promoted him over the years, though he did not walk back his overall position on the feud.

The fallout adds another layer to the wider P-Square saga, which has kept Peter and Paul Okoye at the centre of public attention over their long-running dispute with elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
