Funke Akindele Unveils Star-Studded Cast for New Drama ‘The Four,’ Coming This December

Nollywood powerhouse, Funke Akindele is heading back to the big screen this December with a new film that has already stirred excitement across the Nigerian entertainment industry.

The award-winning actress, director and producer has unveiled her latest project, titled The Four: No One Fights Alone, which is set for a global cinema release on December 11, 2026, distributed by FilmOne Entertainment and produced under her own outfit, Funke Akindele Network (FAAN TV).

The announcement marks yet another chapter in what has become an unbroken run of festive-season blockbusters for Akindele, who has spent the last several years dominating Nigerian box office charts.

She followed up 2022’s Battle on Buka Street with 2023’s record-breaking A Tribe Called Judah, then delivered Everybody Loves Jenifa in 2024 and Behind the Scenes in 2025. With The Four, she returns once again to claim her now-familiar spot in cinemas during the December rush, a period she has consistently used to deliver some of Nollywood’s biggest commercial hits.

The Four is described as an emotionally charged drama exploring friendship, motherhood, sacrifice and the resilience of ordinary women. Set between a fictional community called Odu and the fast-paced energy of city life, the story follows a woman named Esosa and three deeply loyal friends whose bond is tested as they fight to protect the future of a young man they love. Speaking on the project, Akindele explained that the film digs into the relationships that shape and challenge people, adding that she believes audiences will see reflections of themselves in the story.

True to her reputation for assembling heavyweight casts, Akindele has pulled together one of the most star-studded ensembles Nollywood has seen in recent memory. Joining her on screen are Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Antar Laniyan and Wunmi Toriola, alongside singer Waje and Afrobeats act Shoday.

The cast list also features entertainment personalities Samuel Banks, Kolapo Omotosho and Ayomide Iwasokun, further widening the film’s crossover appeal between music, film and pop culture.

With her track record of turning December releases into national events, and a cast this loaded, expectations for The Four are already running high months ahead of its cinema debut.

Further details about the production, including trailers and promotional rollout, are expected in the weeks leading up to its release.
