Kane Outscores Haaland and Mbappé to Claim European Golden Shoe

England captain, Harry Kane has been crowned winner of the European Golden Shoe for the 2025/26 season after producing one of the most remarkable goalscoring campaigns in modern football history.

The Bayern Munich striker finished as the continent’s leading league goalscorer, edging out Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé, who came second and third respectively in the standings.

Kane’s numbers across the season were staggering. He netted 36 goals in the Bundesliga alone, a tally that, once multiplied by the competition’s scoring factor, comfortably secured him the prestigious individual honour awarded annually to the top scorer among Europe’s leading domestic leagues. When goals for club and country are combined, Kane racked up an astonishing 73 across all competitions in just 65 appearances between August 2025 and July 2026, also chipping in with eight assists along the way. Only Lionel Messi’s legendary 91-goal haul in the 2011/12 season has bettered that tally in this century.

The 33-year-old’s exploits helped fire Bayern Munich to a domestic treble, including the Bundesliga title, the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup and the DFB Cup, where he scored a hat-trick in the final in Berlin and finished as the competition’s top scorer. He was also crowned the Bundesliga’s top goalscorer for a third consecutive season and finished as the second-highest scorer in the Champions League, further underlining his extraordinary consistency in front of goal. Along the way, he became the fastest player in history to reach 100 goals for a club in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

On the international stage, Kane was just as prolific, scoring 12 goals for England to match his best return for the Three Lions since the 2021/22 season. His form carried into the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he inspired England to their best-ever finish at a men’s World Cup staged outside Europe.

During the tournament, Kane made history by surpassing Gary Lineker to become England’s all-time leading World Cup goalscorer, while also climbing to joint fifth on the tournament’s all-time scoring charts.

This marks the second time in Kane’s career that he has won the European Golden Shoe, having first claimed it during the 2023/24 season. With this latest triumph, he joins Bayern Munich legends Gerd Müller and Robert Lewandowski as one of only a select group of players to have won the award twice while at the Bavarian club, cementing his status as one of the finest goalscorers of his generation.
