JAMB Clears Over 5,000 Pending Complaints in Five Days Under New Registrar
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has resolved more than 5,000 pending candidate complaints in five days, JAMB said Sunday.
The Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, ordered the clearance in a bid to improve service delivery to candidates, according to a statement issued Sunday in Abuja by JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin.
Aina did not manage the process from a distance. Benjamin said Aina relocated to the Board’s Service Compact with All Nigerians (SERVICOM) Unit to personally review complaints and identify ways of resolving them.
The backlog spanned several categories.
Among the cases addressed were difficulties candidates faced generating profile codes after losing access to the phone numbers used for earlier registrations, along with biometric verification failures recorded during registration or the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination itself.
Other complaints involved payment problems, examination venue concerns, e-PIN issues, technical glitches and difficulties uploading required documents.
JAMB also cleared a batch of identity-correction requests. The Board attended to requests involving corrections to candidates’ names, dates of birth, states of origin and local government areas.
Benjamin said the clearance followed Aina’s decision to strengthen the SERVICOM Unit to ensure outstanding complaints were resolved promptly. He added that Aina directed SERVICOM Desk Officers to handle complaints holistically rather than piecemeal.
Benjamin tied the intervention to the second of Aina’s “Five Enduring Pillars,” which he described as “Service at Heart.”
Details on how many complaints remain unresolved, or a breakdown by category, remain unclear.
