Officers attached to the Oyo State Police Command have successfully recovered a stolen motor vehicle in Gombe State following a targeted operation that led to the arrest of a suspect.

Information gathered reveals that the vehicle was originally stolen within Oyo State on July 29, 2026.

Security forces subsequently apprehended a 21-year-old male suspect identified as Daniel Chinada Obidiukwu in connection with the theft.

In an official press statement released on Thursday evening, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Oyo State Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed that intelligence tracking allowed investigators to locate the suspect and the vehicle in distant Gombe State.

Detailing the arrest, Ayanlade stated: “Consequently, one Daniel Chinada Obidiukwu, male, aged 21, was apprehended in possession of the vehicle.”

Initial interrogations revealed that the young man allegedly stole the car in Ibadan and drove it all the way to Gombe State with the intention of finding an unsuspecting buyer to purchase it.

Following Obidiukwu’s arrest, law enforcement officers impounded the recovered car to serve as a court exhibit while the suspect remains in police custody. Authorities noted that ongoing investigations aim to identify potential accomplices and establish the full circumstances behind the crime.

The command added that as soon as the investigation is finalized, the suspect will be arraigned in court to face full legal prosecution.
