Military personnel assigned to Sector 5 under Operation Enduring Peace have impounded 52 cattle following reports of widespread crop destruction in Mai Jakarta Village, situated in the Mbar District of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.

Security sources informed Zagazola Makama that military units responded at approximately 3:30 a.m. on August 7 after receiving distress alerts regarding the deliberate destruction of local farmlands in the community.

Upon receiving the report, the troops, operating in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), conducted a thorough search of the vicinity and intercepted 52 cattle roaming unattended without any herders nearby.

The seized livestock were immediately relocated to a secure operational base pending official identification by their owners and subsequent administrative action by relevant authorities.

Security personnel confirmed that active investigations are underway to determine if the intercepted herd was directly responsible for damaging the crops, while joint patrols have been intensified to identify and apprehend all individuals associated with the incident.

The tactical response forms part of sustained security operations by Operation Enduring Peace aimed at curbing recurring farmer-herder clashes and safeguarding agricultural communities across Plateau State.
