Leverage on Numerous Opportunities Before It’s Late Shettima Urges Investors
Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on local and foreign investors to take advantage of Nigeria’s improving economic outlook. He said the best time to invest is now, before the opportunities become more expensive.
Speaking at the opening of the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026 in Asaba, Shettima noted that recent reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s administration have restored investor confidence and strengthened macroeconomic stability.
He pointed to upgrades by major rating agencies as proof of growing international trust in the economy.
The Vice President said every state has unique strengths that can drive growth and create jobs. He described Delta State as a top investment destination, highlighting its coastline, ports, natural gas, agricultural potential, and solid minerals.
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori announced that the government has set aside 100 million dollars as viability gap funding to support private sector projects. He also listed tax incentives and land allocations aimed at attracting more investments.
Other speakers, including World Trade Organisation Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo, urged the state to leverage its resources and Nigeria’s reforms to become a major industrial and commercial hub.
They encouraged continuous collaboration and confidence in the country’s potential.
