Lagos Youth Climate Fund Offers Grants of Up to $5,000 for Green Projects

Young people in Lagos can now apply for funding to support innovative climate solutions under the Lagos Youth Climate Action Fund. The grants range from $1,000 to $5,000 and are backed by the Lagos State Government in partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies.

The fund targets youth-led projects that will help make the city greener, cleaner, and better prepared for climate challenges. Eligible participants are groups of young people aged between 15 and 24 who have practical ideas for environmental action in Lagos.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has urged young residents to seize the opportunity. He described the initiative as a chance for the next generation to lead and turn their ideas into real solutions for a more sustainable city.

Applicants must first register and attend a pre-launch webinar scheduled for Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. The session will provide full details on eligibility, project guidelines, and how to submit applications.

Once the official portal opens, participants will be required to present clear proposals for climate action projects. Organisers say the programme aims to boost youth involvement in environmental efforts and bring fresh ideas into Lagos’s climate response.
