Ayra Starr Confirms Major Surgery, Taked Short Break From Music To Recover
Afrobeats star, Ayra Starr, born Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, has announced a temporary break from her music career after revealing she recently underwent major surgery.
The singer shared the update in a post on her Instagram story, addressing her fanbase affectionately known as Mobstars and explaining that she has been away from the spotlight while recovering.
She disclosed that the procedure took place a few days prior and that she had expected a swift recovery, but the healing process proved more complicated than doctors had anticipated. Ayra Starr did not reveal the nature of her health condition or the type of surgery she had, choosing instead to focus her message on reassuring fans that she simply needed time to heal.
She appealed for patience and understanding as she steps back from her usual schedule, promising to return as soon as she is able. Despite the setback, she remained upbeat, urging fans to keep the excitement building around her forthcoming third studio album, Starr Girl, encouraging them to spread the word among friends, family and neighbours ahead of its release.
The health update comes as something of a surprise to many followers, landing just days after the singer had expressed excitement about a different milestone, her first ever film role in the highly anticipated fantasy movie Children of Blood and Bone. Starr Girl is expected to arrive on August 14, marking her first full length project since 2024’s The Year I Turned 21, and fans will be hoping her recovery stays on track in time for the rollout.
