Afrobeats Star, FOLA Spotted in Escalade for Unilag Project Defence, Sparks Online Reactions

Afrobeats singer, FOLA has set social media abuzz after he was spotted arriving at the University of Lagos in a black Cadillac Escalade, reportedly to defend his final year project.

Photos and clips circulating online show the singer, born Folarin Odunlami, dressed down in a grey graphic t-shirt, dark trousers and a beanie, carrying a blue folder as he stepped out of the SUV on campus. The contrast between his usual stage persona and the low key academic outing struck many fans, who flooded comment sections with reactions ranging from amusement to admiration for the singer combining his music career with his studies.

FOLA has built a steady rise in the Afrobeats scene since breaking through in 2022 with his debut single Ginger Me alongside Bella Shmurda. He later signed to Bella Shmurda’s label Dangbana Republik, released his acclaimed EP What A Feeling, and followed it with his debut studio album Catharsis in 2025, featuring collaborations with artists such as Kizz Daniel, Victony and Young Jonn.

His appearance at Unilag adds to a string of recent campus moments for the singer, who performed at the university earlier this year and has maintained visible ties to the Unilag community throughout his rise to fame.
