Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested two suspected collaborators of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during an intelligence-led operation in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.

The operation was carried out in the early hours of July 28 by personnel of the 109 Special Forces Battalion working alongside Hybrid Forces, following intelligence reports on the activities of suspected terrorist collaborators in the area.

The two suspects, identified as 20-year-old Modu Collu and 47-year-old Bashir Goni Tijani, were arrested in Magumeri town during the operation.

Security sources said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects admitted to providing support to Boko Haram/ISWAP elements operating within the locality.

During the raid, troops recovered a Tecno mobile phone belonging to one of the suspects, which has been taken into custody for forensic examination and intelligence analysis.

Military sources disclosed that the suspects, along with the recovered item, are undergoing preliminary processing before being transferred to the Joint Intelligence Fusion Centre (JIFC) for further investigation and other necessary actions.

The arrests were made as part of Operation DESERT SANITY V, an ongoing counter-insurgency campaign focused on identifying and dismantling terrorist support networks, disrupting logistics and cutting off local assistance to insurgent groups across the North-East.

Military authorities said security within the theatre of operations remains generally stable despite persistent threats, adding that troops have continued to maintain a high level of operational readiness in the ongoing fight against insurgency.
