10 Abducted Travelers Saved in Highway Ambush in Kano State

The Kano State Police Command has successfully rescued 10 passengers who were abducted by suspected bandits along the Jos-Kano highway in Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, five armed bandits equipped with machetes and a firearm blocked the highway at the Falgore Forest axis, ambossing a Toyota Hiace bus and kidnapping 13 of its 20 occupants.

Upon receiving a distress call, tactical police operatives were swiftly deployed to the location, engaging the attackers in a fierce gun duel that led to the immediate rescue of nine victims, while a tenth passenger managed to escape from captivity shortly after.

The command noted that three remaining passengers—one male and two females—are still held by the bandits, adding that the rescued victims have been evacuated to Doguwa General Hospital for medical evaluation as search operations intensify to secure the release of the remaining captives.
