Guards Battalion Foil Kidnap on Jere–Bwari, Rescue Commuter
Troops of the 102 Guards Battalion deployed at Jere have successfully foiled a suspected kidnapping and armed robbery attempt along the Jere–Bwari Expressway connecting Kaduna State and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to security reports obtained by Zagazola Makama, the intervention took place at approximately 2:45 a.m. on July 25 after military personnel on night patrol identified a blockade mounted by heavily armed criminal elements.
Upon making contact with the criminal group, the troops immediately engaged the assailants in a tactical exchange of gunfire, forcing the armed gang to abandon their ambush and retreat into the adjacent forest.
During the post-engagement sweep of the general area, military personnel successfully rescued one trapped civilian commuter unhurt from the scene.
Command units have since intensified combat patrols and intelligence-led search operations along the Jere–Bwari transit corridor to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent potential roadside disruptions.
