Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed the rehabilitation of the Olaiya Flyover in Osogbo, citing concerns about its worsening condition.

He wants the work done quickly before commissioning a new bridge built by his administration. The governor believes government is a continuous process and that all state assets, including those from previous leaders, deserve proper care and maintenance.

The All Progressives Congress in the state has strongly opposed the move. Party leaders insist the Olaiya Flyover is still in excellent shape and needs no repairs.

They argued that the plan is unnecessary and could waste public funds at a time when other important sectors require urgent attention.

APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi accused Governor Adeleke of trying to tarnish a major achievement of his predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola, who built the bridge.

He described the proposed rehabilitation as a way to create jobs for political allies rather than addressing real needs. The party called on stakeholders to reject the idea and demand clear explanations from the governor on why taxpayers’ money should be spent on a structure with no visible defects.

This fresh disagreement adds to existing tensions between the state government and the opposition. It comes shortly after both sides clashed over comments made during a visit by the Inspector General of Police. The back-and-forth highlights the deep political divide in Osun State.

Many residents are now watching closely to see how the situation unfolds. The controversy raises questions about project maintenance, resource management, and how rival parties view legacy infrastructure in the state.

For now, the fate of the proposed Olaiya Flyover rehabilitation remains uncertain.
