Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have dismantled a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP hideout and recovered weapons during a clearance operation in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources said the operation was carried out on Saturday after intelligence reports indicated the movement of suspected terrorists around the Layi general area.

According to the sources, personnel of the 145 Battalion (Mechanised), under the leadership of their Commanding Officer, advanced to the location. The suspected insurgents reportedly fled on sighting the troops, abandoning the hideout.

Following the raid, the soldiers destroyed the camp and conducted a search of the area, recovering one pump-action rifle and three AK-47 magazines believed to have been left behind by the fleeing terrorists.

As part of the operation, the troops also extended their patrol to Mallamti Ganyawa village to dominate the area, but no contact was made with any terrorist elements.

The military operation ended without any casualties among the troops, who returned safely to their base later in the afternoon.

Security sources said the situation across the area remains relatively calm, although unpredictable, adding that troops have maintained a high level of alertness while continuing offensive operations against terrorist groups across the North-East.
