Troops Rescue Man Shot During Dispute Among Suspected Illegal Miners in Plateau
Troops of Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace, have responded swiftly to a gunfire incident at Ganadaji Community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Troops were deployed around 8:10 p.m. on July 15 after reports of gunshots in the area. The situation stemmed from a violent disagreement among suspected illegal miners over the sharing of proceeds.
Upon arrival, the soldiers found one victim, identified as Dadun Daniel, who had sustained a gunshot wound. The other suspects fled the scene when they noticed the security personnel approaching. The injured man was quickly evacuated to the General Hospital in Barkin Ladi, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
Military sources said efforts are underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects. Investigations into the incident are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the dispute.
The troops’ prompt response helped prevent further escalation of the violence.
