President Tinubu to Unveil N2.4 Trillion Abuja ‘City Walk’ Real Estate Development

President Bola Tinubu will officially unveil the highly anticipated 2.4 trillion Naira Abuja City Walk development soon. This mega-project marks the start of physical construction on a massive 250-hectare mixed-use urban district situated along the busy Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport corridor in the Federal Capital Territory.

The official unveiling ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Industrial Area site in Abuja, signaling a major milestone for the country’s real estate and infrastructure sector.

The ambitious development is being spearheaded by the MAG Group—represented locally by MAG International Links Limited—in an active joint venture with Link Developments. A key highlight of the launch event will be the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Link Developments and Saudi royal Prince Khalid bin Saud bin Khalid bin Turki Al Saud, who is expected to personally address potential investors during the ceremony.

The event will also feature commitment addresses from the Nigeria-Arab Gulf Chamber of Commerce, highlighting a surge in investment interest from Middle Eastern financial institutions.

The development’s masterplan, crafted by the internationally acclaimed architecture firm Benoy, integrates ultra-modern structures with forward-thinking ecological designs. The center of the district will feature a 450-meter-tall skyscraper designed to house high-end commercial offices, luxury apartments, and premium hospitality services, which is projected to become Africa’s tallest tower. Plans also include a massive 13,000-seat indoor arena built to host world-class sports and entertainment events, alongside a dedicated cultural arts district boasting 12,000 square meters of exhibition and performance spaces.

Another major feature is a sustainable green corridor known as “The Living Ravine,” which uses a specialized “Sponge District” concept incorporating wetlands and natural waterways to harvest rainwater, manage urban flooding, and build climate resilience. This landscape design has already gained international acclaim, earning a shortlist spot at the 2026 World Landscape Architecture Awards.

Furthermore, the entire development lies within a designated Free Trade Zone, which provides significant tax holidays and favorable regulatory waivers aimed at attracting long-term foreign direct investment.

The realization of the City Walk project is largely due to aggressive administrative reforms led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The 250-hectare tract of land, located in the Lugbe area along Airport Road, was originally allocated over two decades ago to the Abuja Technology Village but had remained entirely dormant and plagued by land-grabbing disputes.

By taking decisive administrative action to clear out legal hurdles, finalize long-delayed regulatory approvals, and issue a fresh Certificate of Occupancy, the FCT Administration successfully freed up the land for active development. In return for the government committing to construct the essential access roads leading to the site, the private developers agreed to a strict, phased construction schedule to guarantee the project’s completion.

Minister Wike compared the scale and vision of the development to the famous City Walk in Dubai, emphasizing that the primary goal of welcoming these international investors is to stimulate the local economy, change the face of the nation’s capital, and create thousands of jobs for Nigerian citizens.
