AAAN Partners South African Institution to Boost Advertising Talent Development

The Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) has partnered with South Africa’s Red & Yellow Creative School of Business to strengthen skills development and address talent shortages in Nigeria’s marketing communications industry.

The collaboration, announced in a statement on Tuesday, is aimed at equipping advertising and marketing professionals with the competencies needed to meet evolving industry demands amid rapid technological and workplace changes.

AAAN President, Lanre Adisa, said the initiative was designed to tackle persistent challenges confronting advertising agencies, including a declining pool of experienced professionals, increasing talent poaching, the growing impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and changing client expectations.

According to him, the partnership represents a long-term investment in developing a stronger talent pipeline for the industry, with emphasis on leadership, future-of-work readiness and core professional skills.

Adisa disclosed that the training programme is scheduled to begin in August and is intended to bridge the widening gap between the industry’s demand for skilled professionals and the available talent pool.

He said the association deliberately partnered with Red & Yellow because of its reputation in creative education, expressing confidence that the collaboration would enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness within Africa’s advertising landscape.

The AAAN president also announced plans to host a webinar later this month to introduce the partnership and engage industry stakeholders on talent development, leadership and the changing needs of the advertising profession ahead of the programme’s commencement.

Commenting on the partnership, Managing Director of Red & Yellow Creative School of Business, Verusha Maharaj, said the initiative would help Nigerian marketing communications professionals build the skills required to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving industry.

According to Maharaj, agencies and marketing teams across Africa are facing similar challenges related to talent development, technology adoption, leadership and competitiveness.

She added that the collaboration would encourage practical conversations on the changing needs of creative businesses and how professional education can better respond to those demands.
