Kashamu Throws Weight Behind Adeola in 2027, Says Ogun Needs Tested Leadership
Rasheed Kashamu, the lawmaker representing Ijebu North I Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, has declared his support for the governorship aspiration of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola ahead of the 2027 elections, describing him as the most qualified candidate to lead the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Kashamu, son of the late Buruji Kashamu, said Ogun requires a governor with a proven history of public service, legislative experience and financial expertise to sustain development and strengthen governance.
He argued that Adeola’s political career, spanning service in the state legislature, the House of Representatives and the Senate, demonstrates the competence and leadership required to govern a state of Ogun’s strategic economic importance.
According to the lawmaker, voters should assess aspirants based on their records of performance rather than campaign promises, expressing confidence that Adeola possesses the capacity, experience and vision to deliver effective leadership if elected.
Kashamu also highlighted Adeola’s background as a chartered accountant, saying his knowledge of public finance would promote prudent management of government resources and improve accountability.
He further pointed to what he described as the senator’s contributions to infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, human capital development and community projects during his representation of Ogun West Senatorial District, describing them as evidence of a people-focused approach to governance.
The lawmaker said the demands of modern governance require a leader with a solid understanding of policymaking and public administration, maintaining that Adeola’s years in the National Assembly have adequately prepared him for executive office.
He also expressed confidence in the choice of Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun as Adeola’s running mate, describing her as an experienced administrator and grassroots politician whose inclusion strengthens the ticket.
According to Kashamu, the Adeola-Adegunwa-Balogun ticket offers a combination of experience and administrative competence capable of advancing economic growth, industrialisation, education, healthcare, agriculture and youth development across Ogun State.
He urged residents of the state to carefully examine the credentials and track records of those seeking the governorship, insisting that the state’s future should be entrusted to leaders with demonstrated commitment to public service.
