ADC Rules Out Kano Governorship Aspirant Over Alleged Loyalty to Tinubu

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has ruled out the chances of Kano State governorship aspirant, Ibrahim Khalil, over his alleged loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The party’s Deputy National Chairman (North West), Naja’atu Mohammed, disclosed this during a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Kano.

Mohammed said Khalil’s support for President Tinubu is widely known, alleging that the aspirant had repeatedly made public declarations in support of the President.

According to her, the party’s seven-member consensus committee, headed by Ben Obi, is unlikely to endorse any governorship aspirant whose commitment to the ADC’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is considered uncertain.

She argued that many people in Northern Nigeria would be unwilling to support any aspirant perceived to be aligned with President Tinubu, citing the economic hardship and security challenges experienced in the region under the current administration.

Mohammed lamented the worsening insecurity and hunger in the North, stating that the situation had left many communities devastated.

She also dismissed claims that she single-handedly blocked Khalil’s emergence as the party’s governorship candidate, explaining that the decision rests with the consensus committee, of which she is only a member.

At the briefing, the ADC also inaugurated a new Kano State Caretaker Committee to oversee the party’s affairs in the state.

The committee is headed by Umar Bala as Caretaker Chairman, with Ismail Musa Ibrahim serving as Caretaker Secretary. Other members include Lawal Adamu Giginyu as Caretaker Publicity Secretary and Barrister Mohammed Lawal Adamu as the party’s Legal Adviser.
