Respect Primary Election Outcome, Taraba North APC Group Urges Party Leadership
A coalition of stakeholders and support groups within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba North Senatorial District has called on the party's national leadership to uphold the outcome of the recently conducted senatorial primary election.
The group, operating under the umbrella of the Conference of APC Support Groups, urged party leaders to respect the will of delegates and maintain the integrity of the primary process by affirming the declared winner of the exercise.
Speaking at a press briefing, representatives of the group expressed concern over what they described as attempts by some interests within the party to overturn the result of the primary election.
They warned that any move to alter the outcome could undermine internal democracy and create unnecessary divisions within the party. According to the stakeholders, the primary election was conducted in line with the APC's guidelines and under the supervision of relevant party officials.
They maintained that the process was transparent, credible, and reflected the wishes of party members in Taraba North. The group reaffirmed its support for the declared winner of the senatorial primary and urged the APC National Working Committee (NWC) to resist any pressure aimed at changing the outcome of the exercise.
"We call on the leadership of our great party to protect the sanctity of the democratic process and ensure that the mandate freely given by delegates is respected," the stakeholders said.
They further stressed that adherence to due process would strengthen party unity and boost confidence among members ahead of future political contests.
The appeal comes amid growing discussions within the APC over the conduct and outcome of primary elections in some parts of the country.
Political observers say the party's handling of such disputes will be crucial in maintaining cohesion and public confidence.
The Taraba North stakeholders reiterated their commitment to the APC and pledged to continue supporting efforts aimed at strengthening democratic values within the party.
