Ogun Police Command Foils Initiation Rites, Apprehen 30 Cult Suspects

The Ogun State Police Command have successfully foiled a planned cult initiation ceremony, arresting 30 suspects in a coordinated raid across the state.

The successful operation was carried out by police operatives following actionable intelligence regarding a large gathering of secret cult members at a designated hideout, where they had assembled to initiate new inductees into their fold.

Acting swiftly on the tip-off, tactical teams stormed the location, cordoned off the perimeter, and apprehended the suspects before the initiation rites could be completed.

During the sweep, security forces recovered an assortment of dangerous weapons and incriminating items from the scene, including locally made firearms, ammunition, axes, and various regalia belonging to the confraternity. The command’s public relations unit confirmed that the 30 suspects are currently in police custody and are undergoing rigorous interrogation.

The state police command reiterated its unwavering commitment to clamping down on violent secret cults, which have historically been linked to broader security threats, armed robberies, and communal clashes within the state.

Authorities emphasized that intelligence-led patrols and proactive raids will remain a permanent fixture of their strategy to guarantee public safety, warning youths to steer clear of illicit groupings as the arrested individuals will face prosecution immediately after investigations are concluded.
