Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa has rewarded a student, Delight Amayaenvbo, with a N1 million cash gift for recording straight As in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
The deputy governor described the achievement as a clear result of hard work, discipline and determination.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, Idahosa said the student’s success had made both his family and Edo State proud. He stressed the importance of celebrating academic excellence among young people in the state.
The deputy governor explained that the gift was meant not only to reward Delight’s outstanding performance but also to inspire other Edo youths to take their education seriously and aim for excellence.
He urged students across the state to remain focused on their studies.
Idahosa noted that strong academic results can open doors to greater opportunities and contribute to the development of the state. He expressed delight in recognising the student’s achievement in this way.
Delight’s father, Charity Amayaenvbo, thanked the deputy governor for the gesture, describing it as significant encouragement for his son and the entire family. He prayed that the recognition would motivate more young people to pursue academic excellence.
