Abiodun Unveils Technology-Driven Security Strategy to Counter Rising Threats
Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has announced plans to deploy technology-driven security solutions to bolster the state’s security framework amid growing concerns over terrorism, banditry and kidnapping across Nigeria.
The governor made the disclosure during an All Progressives Congress (APC) strategic meeting held at the Presidential Lodge in Ibara, Abeokuta, where he assured residents that his administration would take proactive measures to prevent criminal elements from establishing operations in the state.
Abiodun said the state government was intensifying efforts to safeguard lives and property through the adoption of modern security technology, stressing that Ogun would not wait until it came under attack before taking action.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining Ogun’s reputation as a secure and investment-friendly destination through sustained investments in security infrastructure, stronger collaboration with security agencies and active community participation in security initiatives.
According to the governor, protecting residents remains a top priority, with ongoing efforts focused on strengthening the overall security architecture of the state.
Abiodun disclosed that special emphasis is being placed on securing schools and other educational institutions, describing children as critical to the future development of the state.
He said the government has enhanced security around schools through increased surveillance, strategic deployment of security personnel, improved coordination among security agencies and the use of technology to monitor vulnerable locations.
The measures, he noted, are intended to deter criminal activities and ensure that schools remain safe environments conducive to teaching and learning.
Beyond security, the governor revealed that his administration would place greater focus on human capital development and social intervention programmes, even as it continues to invest in infrastructure projects.
He explained that the planned initiatives are designed to cushion the impact of prevailing economic challenges on residents and improve overall welfare across the state.
Abiodun reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the benefits of democratic governance reach all segments of society through targeted developmental programmes and inclusive policies.
The governor also praised members of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State for conducting peaceful and orderly primary elections, describing the exercise as a reflection of political maturity, unity and discipline within the party.
He commended aspirants and party stakeholders for embracing consensus and maintaining harmony throughout the process, noting that those who stepped aside for other candidates played a crucial role in preserving party cohesion.
Earlier, Ogun APC Chairman, Yemi Sanusi, lauded party members for their conduct before, during and after the primaries.
Sanusi said the strategic meeting was convened to strengthen the party’s mobilisation efforts and fine-tune preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence in the APC’s readiness for future political contests.
