Two Nabbed in Abia for Attempting to Steal Two-week-old Baby

Police in Abia State have arrested two suspects over an attempt to steal a baby who is just two weeks old.

The frightening incident has caused serious concern among residents, especially new mothers in the area. The suspects were caught before they could take the newborn away from its family.

According to police reports, the two individuals planned the baby theft carefully but were discovered in time. Neighbors and family members raised an alarm when they noticed suspicious behavior around the home where the baby lives. Quick action by local residents and police led to the arrest of both suspects. The baby was found safe and has been reunited with the mother.

The attempted theft happened in a quiet neighborhood in Abia State, where such crimes are rare. Many people expressed shock that anyone would try to steal such a young child. The police have not yet released the names of the suspects, but they confirmed that investigations are ongoing. Officers are now trying to find out if the two are part of a larger child trafficking ring.

Child theft is a serious crime in Nigeria, and punishments can be severe. Police have praised the community for acting fast and helping to save the baby. They are also advising parents to be extra careful with their children, especially newborns. Extra security measures have been put in place around the neighborhood to prevent any similar attempts in the future.

The two suspects remain in police custody and are expected to face charges in court soon. The family of the baby has asked for privacy during this difficult time. Meanwhile, child protection groups are calling for stricter laws to stop baby theft across the country. For now, the community is grateful that this story ended without tragedy, thanks to the quick actions of ordinary citizens and law enforcement.
