Army Nabs Two Suspected Terrorist Informants in Ondo Forest Communities
Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested two suspected terrorist informants during a security operation in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
According to counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, the operation was carried out on Monday morning in collaboration with local vigilante groups.
Security sources said the raid focused on forested communities around Itagbolu, Iju, Igbogun Iju and Iju Alagbun as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal activities and strengthen security within the area.
The suspects were reportedly apprehended during the operation and later handed over to the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, for further investigation.
Authorities said the operation forms part of wider security measures aimed at dismantling networks linked to criminal and terrorist activities in the region.
The arrests come days after troops reportedly detained another suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP informant in Garaha, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The suspect in the Adamawa incident was said to have been arrested after allegedly behaving suspiciously around the perimeter of a military facility identified as B Company.
