Two-Year-Old Girl Among 46 Abducted in Oyo Communities
A two-year-old girl, Christianah Akanbi, is among the 46 persons abducted by gunmen during attacks on communities in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The victims, made up of seven teachers and 39 pupils and residents, were reportedly kidnapped last Friday from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School.
Community leaders disclosed that four motorcycles were also taken by the attackers during the incident.
Among the abducted school officials are the principal of Community High School, Mrs. Alamu Folawe, Vice Principal Mr. Ojo Jonathan, and teachers Olatunde Zacchaeus, John Olaleye, Michael Oyedokun, Mrs. Oladeji, and Mary Akanbi of Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School.
Several children from affected communities were also listed among the victims, including Rashida Tajudeen, 11; Ahmed Ramoni, 8; Abdulsalam Toyib, 4; Baraka Abioye, 16; Fatimo Jimoh, 15; Hassan Azeez, 14; and Joshua Adeleke, 13.
From Yawota community, abducted residents included Samuel Oyedele, 7; Emmanuel Oyedele, 4; Idowu Taiwo, 4; Christianah Akanbi, 2; Juwon Sunday, 7; Sikiru Salami, 3; and Soliu Salami, 4, among others.
Residents from Oniya and Alawusa communities were also reportedly taken during the attack. They include Shuaibu Aliyu, 10; Ahmed Aliyu, 7; Muiz Aliyu, 5; Jomiloju Ogunlola, 6; Agune Noah, 8; Elizabeth Abadi, 5; Tosin Abadi, 9; and Hannah Ojo, 14.
The abduction has sparked concern across the affected communities, with residents calling for urgent security intervention and the safe return of the victims.
Earlier, authorities in Oyo State had confirmed that security agencies were intensifying rescue operations following the attack.
