Ex-Bauchi Lawmaker Maryam Bagel Wins PDP Reps Ticket

Former member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Maryam Garba Bagel, has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the Dass/Tafawa Balewa/Bogoro Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Bagel, who previously represented Dass Constituency in the state assembly, secured the party’s ticket during the PDP House of Representatives primary elections conducted through affirmation across federal constituencies in Bauchi State.

Chairman of the party’s House of Representatives Primary Election Committee in the state, Ali Ibrahim, announced the outcome of the exercise held on May 17, 2026.

Ibrahim said the exercise followed the screening and clearance of aspirants by the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party.

According to him, cleared aspirants were presented before delegates and party members for affirmation in line with the party’s constitution and the 2026 electoral guidelines.

He stated that delegates unanimously endorsed candidates for the various federal constituencies ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Among those affirmed were Khalid Barau Ningi for Ningi/Warji Federal Constituency, Zahradeen Aminu Abubakar for Shira/Giade, Hussaini A. Umar for Toro, Abubakar Usman for Ganjuwa/Darazo, and Idris Yusuf Duguri for Alkaleri/Kirfi Federal Constituency.

Others include Abdullahi Musa Tela for Zaki Federal Constituency, Shehu Yakubu for Jama’are/Itas-Gadau, Ahmad Muhammad Dambam for Misau/Dambam, Muhammad Garba Dogo for Katagum, Isah Mohammed Wabu for Gamawa, and Aliyu Abdullahi for Bauchi Federal Constituency.

Ibrahim congratulated the successful aspirants and wished them victory in the 2027 elections, while also appreciating the PDP leadership for entrusting the committee with the conduct of the exercise.
