Baba-Ahmed Vows to Work Against Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Bid

The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has declared that he will actively work to prevent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from securing re-election in the 2027 general elections, intensifying early political realignments ahead of the next presidential contest.

Baba-Ahmed made the remarks during a recent television interview, where he expressed strong opposition to the president’s second-term ambition, citing concerns over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, economic hardship, and governance challenges.

According to him, the current state of the country reflects a failure of leadership, warning that continued rule under the present administration could deepen national difficulties. “I will work to get Tinubu out of office because I believe his leadership has not delivered the needed results,” he said, insisting that his position is driven by national interest rather than personal grievances.

He added that opposition parties must begin early mobilisation and coalition-building to mount a strong challenge against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027. Baba-Ahmed also argued that internal divisions and policy dissatisfaction within the APC could weaken the party’s chances if opposition forces present a united front.

The PRP chairman further warned that Nigeria’s current trajectory requires urgent political correction, stressing that citizens should have viable alternatives ahead of the next general elections.

His comments have added momentum to early political conversations surrounding the 2027 elections, as various political actors continue to position themselves for what is expected to be a highly competitive race.

Meanwhile, the APC has already endorsed President Tinubu for a second term, setting the stage for an intense political showdown between the ruling party and opposition groups in the coming years.
