Finance Minister Oyedele Labels President Tinubu Nigeria’s ‘Chief Marketer’
Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the nation’s “chief marketer” during the 2026 Africa CEO Forum in Kigali, Rwanda. Speaking on the sidelines of the summit, Oyedele highlighted the President’s proactive approach to economic diplomacy, noting that he is actively showcasing Nigeria’s investment potential to global business leaders.
The Minister emphasized that these efforts are central to the administration’s strategy to attract foreign direct investment and mobilize capital for critical national infrastructure.
Reflecting on the President’s tireless commitment to the country’s economic promotion, Oyedele remarked, “One very exciting thing about Mr President is that he is never tired of marketing Nigeria. He is the chief marketer for the country.” He explained that the President’s participation in the forum was highly productive, involving numerous strategic meetings focused on long-term growth. Oyedele noted, “We had several engagements and discussions, mostly focusing on economic opportunities and how we can mobilise more investment,” underscoring that these direct interactions are essential for bridging the gap between policy implementation and investor confidence.
The Minister further stated that the President’s personal involvement in these high-level negotiations provides the necessary credibility to attract private capital to sectors such as mining, power, and port development. According to Oyedele, this hands-on approach positions Nigeria as a top destination for investment on the continent, as the President continues to leverage his reform credentials to sell the Nigerian story to the world. The engagements are expected to yield significant bilateral agreements, reinforcing the administration’s goal of achieving sustainable economic revitalization through global partnerships.
