Completion of Anioma State Tied to Nwoko’s 2027 Return, Says Oganah

The Director of Media for the Anioma State creation movement, Prince Tonnie Oganah, has said the realisation of the proposed Anioma State is closely linked to the return of Senator Ned Nwoko to the National Assembly in 2027.

Oganah stated this while speaking on the ongoing agitation for the creation of Anioma State, insisting that Nwoko remains one of the strongest political voices championing the cause at the federal level.

According to him, the senator’s continued presence in the Senate would play a critical role in pushing the constitutional processes required for the creation of the proposed state. He noted that Nwoko has consistently engaged political stakeholders and mobilised support across party lines in pursuit of the long-standing demand by the Anioma people.

Oganah dismissed claims that the agitation for Anioma State was being used as a political strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections. He argued that the campaign predates current political alignments and is rooted in the quest for fairness, inclusion and balanced representation.

He further stated that prominent leaders within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, had shown support for the proposal.

According to Oganah, the creation of Anioma State would help address concerns over the perceived imbalance in Nigeria’s geopolitical structure, particularly regarding the number of states in the South-East region compared to other zones.

Supporters of the proposal have argued that the creation of Anioma State from Delta State would promote political inclusion, accelerate development and give the Anioma people a stronger voice in national affairs.

The agitation for Anioma State has remained a recurring political issue for decades, with advocates repeatedly calling for constitutional backing to actualise the demand.

Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North Senatorial District, has in recent months renewed calls for broad political support for the creation of the state, describing it as a matter of equity and national unity.
