Katsina Government Disburses N328m Allowance to 650 Medical Students
The Katsina State Government has disbursed N328 million under the first phase of its 2026 Medical Students’ Allowance Scheme to support 650 medical students studying in 33 accredited universities.
The initiative was approved by Dikko Radda as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare workforce development and human capital investment in the state.
The General Manager of the Katsina State Hospital Services Management Board, Muhammad Nazir, confirmed the disbursement in a statement issued on Saturday through the board’s secretary, Abu Usman.
According to the statement, the allowance scheme covers medical students studying in universities both within and outside Nigeria and is aimed at reducing the financial burden associated with medical education and professional training.
The board described the programme as a strategic intervention designed to produce a skilled and resilient healthcare workforce capable of addressing the healthcare needs of Katsina State and the country.
It added that the Hospital Services Management Board coordinated the disbursement process to ensure transparency and accountability in the distribution of the funds to eligible beneficiaries.
The statement further noted that additional phases of the programme would be implemented as part of the state government’s continued commitment to healthcare human capital development.
