APC Governors Pass Vote of Confidence in Hope Uzodimma

The Progressive Governors’ Forum has reaffirmed its support for Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, dismissing reports of a change in leadership within the group.

The 18 governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress passed a vote of confidence in Uzodimma, who currently chairs the forum, during a meeting held at the Imo Lodge in Abuja on Friday.

The decision followed speculation that Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, had been announced as a new leader of the forum on Thursday night.

Governors present at the meeting included those from Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Borno, Ondo, Kogi, Yobe, Kebbi, Benue, Ebonyi, Jigawa and Taraba states, while Nasarawa State was represented by its deputy governor. The Taraba governor attended briefly before leaving.

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, moved the motion for the vote of confidence, stating that Uzodimma and Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, remain chairman and deputy chairman of the forum respectively.

Other governors described the forum as united and dismissed reports of internal division. They said the group remains focused on supporting the administration of President Bola Tinubu and strengthening party cohesion ahead of the 2027 elections.

The governors also pledged to intensify performance in their states and expand social interventions aimed at improving welfare for citizens.
