Pate Rules Out 2027 Bauchi Governorship Bid, Cites National Service
The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, has announced that he will not contest the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State, citing his commitment to national service.
Pate made the declaration in a video message delivered in Hausa and circulated on social media, stating that the decision followed extensive consultations and personal reflection.
“It is unlikely that I will run for governorship in 2027, and I assure you that you will not regret the love and support you have shown me throughout this period,” he said.
The minister explained that he still has significant contributions to make at the national level, particularly towards Nigeria’s development and the advancement of Northern Nigeria.
Despite stepping aside from the race, Pate said he would remain actively involved in the political process and support the emergence of credible candidates within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He urged aspirants in Bauchi State to remain patient and rally behind whoever emerges from the party’s primaries, noting that collective interest should take precedence over personal ambition.
Pate also pledged to work towards securing victory for the APC in the state at all levels during the 2027 elections.
The minister, who has previously contested for the governorship three times without clinching the party’s ticket, thanked his supporters and promised to continue delivering impactful interventions in his current role.
