Kwara 2027: APC Aspirant Bolarinwa Pledges to Tackle Insecurity, Boost Welfare
A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Bashir Omoloja Bolarinwa, has pledged to address insecurity and improve living standards if elected in the 2027 general elections.
Mr Bolarinwa made the commitment on Saturday in Abuja while submitting his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to party officials, formally entering the race for the state’s top office. The forms were received by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Mohammed Argungu.
According to a statement from his media office, the aspirant identified security as a top priority, citing concerns over banditry and its impact on communities across Kwara, particularly in the northern and southern parts of the state. He said restoring peace, safeguarding lives and property, and addressing humanitarian challenges caused by attacks would be central to his administration.
Mr Bolarinwa also outlined plans to improve access to essential social services, including healthcare, education and welfare, stressing that governance must translate into tangible benefits for citizens. He added that agriculture and other sectors critical to livelihoods would receive attention under a people-focused development agenda.
The aspirant expressed confidence in his chances, stating his ambition to succeed the incumbent governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, whom he acknowledged for ongoing efforts in the state.
Mr Bolarinwa highlighted his experience in public service, noting that he has served as a councillor, chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, and a member of the House of Representatives.
He was accompanied by members of the Egbe Omo Igbomina FCT Chapter during the submission of his forms.
His entry into the race comes amid heightened concerns over insecurity in parts of Kwara State, where recent incidents of killings and kidnappings have increased public anxiety ahead of the next election cycle.
