Police Dismiss Forest Attack Clip as Recycled Foreign Content

The Ogun State Police Command has dismissed a widely circulated video alleging the presence of bandits in a forest within the state, describing the footage as misleading and falsely attributed.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, clarified that investigations showed the video did not originate from Ogun State or any part of the country.

According to the command, preliminary findings traced the footage to an operation involving cattle rustlers in Kenya, where it was captured using a drone operated by the General Service Unit.

Authorities added that the video first appeared online in 2022 and has since been reposted with misleading claims to create panic.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the spread of the video, warning that unverified content could erode public trust in security institutions and trigger unnecessary fear.

He also refuted claims of bandit activity in the state’s forests, stating that there is no intelligence or operational report supporting such allegations.

Ojajuni assured residents that the command remains vigilant through intelligence-driven policing and strategic deployment of personnel across the state.

The police urged the public to disregard the video and refrain from sharing unverified information, warning that the dissemination of false or inciting content would not be tolerated.
