Osun APC Gubernatorial Candidate Gifts N1 Million to Best Graduating LAUTECH Student
The campaign organization of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming August 15 election in Osun State, has announced a N1 million donation to Oladepo Caleb Olugbenga. The gesture is in recognition of Oladepo’s remarkable academic success as the overall best graduating student at the 18th convocation ceremony of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).
Oladepo, an indigene of Ijimoba in the Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State, achieved an outstanding Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.89 out of 5.0 in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. His performance has been widely celebrated as a testament to hard work and perseverance in the face of significant personal and economic challenges.
The announcement was made on Friday, April 24, 2026, by Mr. Remi Omowaiye, Chairman of the Media Committee for the Ambo Campaign Organization. Omowaiye noted that the campaign organization was deeply moved by Oladepo’s dedication to his studies, viewing the donation as a necessary encouragement for a youth who overcame formidable obstacles to excel.
The graduate’s story is one of profound struggle and triumph. Having grown up in a village without electricity for nine years, Oladepo faced immense adversity, including the lack of basic amenities and the daily struggle to afford school fees and materials. He persevered through these conditions, consistently prioritizing his education despite having to walk miles to school while his parents worked multiple jobs to support the household.
During the celebration of his success, Oladepo publicly credited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for facilitating his academic journey. The campaign organization highlighted this acknowledgment, using it as a case study to validate the positive impact that the student loan initiative, introduced by the administration of President Bola Tinubu, is currently having on the Nigerian educational landscape.
In response to the feat, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji expressed his pride in Oladepo and reaffirmed his campaign’s dedication to youth empowerment. The candidate pledged that, if elected, his administration would continue to prioritize support for young people in Osun State, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent talented students from achieving their full potential in academic and professional endeavors.
