Governor Adeleke to Unveil 52-Member Campaign Council for Osun 2026
As the race for the August 15, 2026, governorship election enters a decisive phase, Governor Ademola Adeleke has concluded plans to unveil a robust 52-member campaign council to spearhead his re-election bid.
This strategic move marks the formal activation of the Governor’s political machinery under the banner of the Accord Party, following his high-profile departure from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) late last year.
The 52-member council, which reportedly includes a blend of veteran political strategists, grassroots mobilizers, and key members of the “Imole” movement, is expected to be inaugurated in Osogbo later this week.
According to sources within the government, the team is tasked with coordinating a state-wide “consultative network” designed to showcase the Governor’s achievements in infrastructure and civil service welfare while countering opposition narratives across the 30 local government areas.
Central to the campaign’s message is the Governor’s Upgraded Five-Point Agenda, which he unveiled after clinching the Accord Party ticket in December 2025.
The council will focus its communication on the administration’s “infrastructure consolidation” and “agro-industrial expansion” projects, which have been pillars of Adeleke’s first-term delivery. By selecting a large, diverse team, the Governor aims to demonstrate that his move to the Accord Party has not diminished his broad political support but has instead consolidated a loyalist base ahead of the polls.
Spokesperson to the Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, indicated in a recent briefing that the upcoming campaign will be “issue-based and record-driven.” He emphasized that the 52-member team reflects an inclusive approach to governance and electioneering, ensuring that every sector from the cooperative movements to the digital economy stakeholders is represented in the push for a second term.
With the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) intensifying its preparations, the unveiling of this campaign council is seen as a show of force by the Accord Party. As the first major rally under the “Thumb Up” logo approaches, all eyes are on Osogbo to see how this newly assembled team will navigate the complex political landscape and attempt to secure a historic victory for Governor Adeleke outside the traditional two-party structure.
