Lebanese Christian Activist Claims 90% of Citizens Hoped for No Ceasefire to Defeat Hezbollah
A prominent Lebanese Christian activist named Ibrahim Saqr has made a strong claim about how many people in Lebanon felt during the recent Israel-Hezbollah conflict.
He said that 90 percent of Lebanese citizens were quietly praying there would be no ceasefire. According to him, they wanted the fighting to continue so that Hezbollah could finally be removed from the country.
Saqr explained that many ordinary Lebanese, especially Christians and other groups, see Hezbollah as a group that has taken control of large parts of the nation. They believe the militant group has brought nothing but trouble, turning Lebanon into a battleground for outside powers.
The activist’s words reflect the deep frustration felt by those who want their country back and free from what they call foreign interference.
His statement comes as a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah was recently announced. Many people in Lebanon had mixed feelings about the deal. While some welcomed the end of the violence, others feared it would only give Hezbollah time to recover and become stronger again.
Saqr’s comment shows that a large number of citizens secretly wished for a complete victory over the group instead of a quick stop to the war.
Ibrahim Saqr is well known in Lebanon for speaking openly about the need to reclaim the country from militant influence. His bold words have sparked fresh debate online and among Lebanese communities. Some agree with him fully, while others warn that such statements could create more division at a time when the country needs healing and peace.
As Lebanon tries to recover from months of conflict, Saqr’s message highlights the strong feelings many citizens still hold. The desire to push out Hezbollah remains alive for a large part of the population. For now, his claim has brought attention back to the deep divisions inside the country and the difficult road ahead for lasting stability.
