ITF and CTIN to Train 100,000 Artisans in Construction

The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and the Construction Technology Institute of Nigeria (CTIN) have announced a major plan to train 100,000 artisans in the construction sector. The two organisations will work together to equip young Nigerians with modern skills needed for building projects across the country.

This initiative is expected to start soon and run over the coming years.

The training programme will focus on different areas of construction, including bricklaying, plumbing, electrical installation, welding, and carpentry. Both ITF and CTIN believe that giving artisans proper training will improve the quality of work in the building industry. The programme will also include practical sessions and certification to make sure participants meet industry standards.

This move is aimed at addressing the shortage of skilled workers in Nigeria’s construction sector. Many building projects currently face delays because of a lack of well-trained artisans. By training 100,000 people, the government and its partners hope to create more jobs and boost the quality of infrastructure being built in different parts of the country.

The partnership between ITF and CTIN is seen as a positive step towards developing local skills and reducing reliance on foreign experts. Officials say the programme will be open to youths from various states, with special attention given to those who are unemployed or underemployed. Successful participants will receive certificates that can help them get better-paying jobs.

Many industry experts have welcomed the announcement. They believe that a well-trained workforce will speed up construction projects and lower costs in the long run. As the training begins, both ITF and CTIN are expected to provide regular updates on the progress and number of artisans who have completed the programme.

This initiative shows a clear focus on building local capacity in the construction sector. If successfully carried out, it could have a lasting impact on Nigeria’s infrastructure development and create opportunities for thousands of young people across the country.
