Delta CP Orders Probe, Trial of Officers Caught Collecting Money via POS

The Delta State Commissioner of Police has ordered a full investigation and trial of some police officers caught collecting money from members of the public through a POS machine.

The officers were accused of extorting citizens at different points in the state. The Commissioner described the act as unacceptable and against the ethics of the police force.

According to reports, the officers were filmed while demanding and receiving cash payments from drivers and other road users. The video of the incident went viral and caused public anger.

The Commissioner of Police said such behaviour brings the entire force into disrepute and will not be tolerated under his watch.

He directed that the affected officers be identified, arrested, and immediately subjected to disciplinary procedures. The Commissioner stressed that the police must serve the public with integrity and not exploit them. He warned all officers in the command to avoid any form of corruption or extortion.

This latest action is part of ongoing efforts by the Delta State Police Command to restore public confidence. Many residents have complained about police harassment and illegal collections in the past. The Commissioner’s firm stand is seen as a strong message that bad behaviour will attract serious consequences.

The people of Delta State have welcomed the decision. They hope the probe will be thorough and serve as a deterrent to other officers. As the investigation continues, many are watching to see how the command handles the case and whether it leads to lasting change in police conduct across the state.
