ADC Insists on Holding Convention at Rainbow Event Centre Despite Pressure

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has insisted that it will proceed with its national convention at the Rainbow Event Centre despite alleged pressure on the facility’s management to evict the party.

A chieftain of the party, Dino Melaye, said members of the planning committee were asked to vacate the venue but refused, citing a binding agreement with the management of the facility.

Melaye, who is also the chairman of the protocol committee for the convention, stated that the party had fully paid for the venue and possessed valid receipts and a duly signed contract.

“We were asked to leave yesterday and there were attempts to shut the gates, but we insisted that we are not going anywhere because we have a contract duly signed and we have paid in full,” he said.

He maintained that no force could have prevented the party from holding its convention under such legal backing, stressing that the event would go on as planned.

“With a proper contract and evidence of payment, no battalion would have moved us away from here today. We are here and we will hold our convention here,” Melaye added.

He further dismissed suggestions that external pressure could disrupt the exercise, insisting that the party remained resolute.

The ADC has recently faced challenges securing venues for its convention, with party sources alleging that prior arrangements were cancelled without clear explanations.
