Lagos State Government Seals COSJANE Mall, Public Toilet Over Environmental Violations

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

On Tuesday, authorities from the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources shut down COSJANE Mall on Festac Link Road.

A public restroom on Offin Road was also closed during the operation due to serious violations regarding waste disposal.

Environment Commissioner, Tokunbo Wahab announced the enforcement via X, explaining that the toilet operators were intentionally emptying septic tanks into the public drainage system.

This illegal activity caused foul smells and sewage spills, creating a significant health hazard and environmental nuisance for the local community.

Similarly, COSJANE Mall in Amuwo Odofin was sealed for releasing untreated wastewater into public drains after management reportedly ignored several official warnings.

Wahab emphasized that such actions threaten public health and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to strictly enforce environmental laws across the state.
