Zulum Backs APC Digital Register, Predicts Massive Membership Growth in Borno
Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, has thrown his weight behind the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s digital membership registration drive, projecting a sharp rise in party enrolment across the state as the exercise gains momentum.
The governor spoke on Sunday in Maiduguri after personally enrolling in the new system during the official launch of the digital registration at the APC state secretariat.
Zulum received his membership card after being registered by an agent from Aiari Ward, Unit 003, with the card presented by the state party chairman, Bello Ayuba.
According to the governor, the adoption of a digital platform for party registration is a major step toward deepening internal party processes and strengthening democratic practices within the APC. He urged party members and supporters across Borno to fully participate in the exercise.
“Strengthening internal democracy is key to a stable democracy, and therefore I call on all members of our party to register via the e-platform. Let us expand our membership.
“I believe Borno State can register more than two million people for the APC. I want all critical stakeholders to work assiduously to ensure the success of this registration exercise,” he said.
Also registered at the event were the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Kadafur, and the APC Deputy National Chairman, Ali Dalori, underscoring the party leadership’s endorsement of the initiative.
The digital membership registration and card system is designed to build a credible and centralised database of APC members nationwide. Party officials say the initiative will improve transparency, enhance communication within the party and encourage more structured political participation.
In his remarks, Ayuba commended the governor for leading by example, describing Zulum’s support as a morale booster for party members and grassroots mobilisation efforts in the state.
The flag-off ceremony drew several top political figures, including the Chief Whip of the Senate, Tahir Monguno, Senators Mohammed Ali Ndume and Kaka Lawan (SAN).
Others in attendance were Bukar Talba, member representing Marte, Monguno and Nganzai Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives; Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan; Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bukar Tijani; Acting Chief of Staff, Dr. Babagana Mallumbe, alongside commissioners and other senior government officials.
