Some Groups Have Brought Aggression into ADC Over Top Ticket, Laments Dele Momodu

‎Dele Momodu, a key figure in the opposition movement and a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has raised a red flag regarding the internal stability of the party as it navigates the high-stakes process of selecting its presidential ticket for the 2027 elections.

‎In a detailed intervention, Momodu warned that certain interest groups are importing a brand of “aggression” and “unruly behavior” into the ADC that mirrors the destructive patterns seen in the country’s older political establishments.

He observed that while the ADC was meant to serve as a disciplined, principled alternative to the status quo, the current influx of diverse political blocs has led to a surge in hostility and entitlement.

‎Momodu’s specific concern centers on the pressures surrounding the “top ticket.”

He noted that some factions have adopted an all-or-nothing approach, insisting on specific candidates and using intimidation tactics to sway the party’s decision-making process.

He cautioned that if the ADC allows these aggressive groups to hijack its internal democracy, it will quickly lose its identity as a “Third Force” and become another “carcass” of failed political ambitions.

‎The veteran journalist urged the party’s leadership to remain firm and prioritize organizational order over the loud demands of any single group. He emphasized that the ADC must remain a platform for ideas and mutual respect, rather than a battleground for political desperation, if it hopes to present a credible challenge in the upcoming general elections.
