Kano Approves N6.9bn for Key Projects

The Kano State Executive Council has authorized the expenditure of more than ₦6.9 billion for several initiatives designed to enhance public well-being and fast-track regional development across the state.
Following the 36th Executive Council session held at the Government House on Thursday, Ibrahim Waiya, the Commissioner for Information, shared the details of these approvals.
He noted that the council allocated upwards of ₦859.2 million to compensate property owners impacted by the construction of a 5km road in the Tudun Wada Local Government Area.
Furthermore, roughly ₦358.5 million was designated for drainage systems in Kano Municipal, while ₦896 million was set aside to repair a collapsed culvert in Kiru Local Government Area.
The Commissioner further detailed that ₦2.6 billion was approved for the ‘Yandodo-Mai-Allo road project, ₦1.2 billion for building a box culvert, and ₦431.7 million for graduation and empowerment programs at the Entrepreneurship Institute.
Waiya also mentioned that ₦85.6 million was budgeted for expanding water pipelines in Gwale, ₦285 million for new classroom blocks, and ₦157.6 million for an anti-corruption workshop.
Additionally, the council moved to send four new bills to the State House of Assembly and gave the green light for the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Policy and Manual.
These legislative proposals include the 2025 Local Governments Administration Bill and the 2025 Economic Planning and Development Council Bill.
Other bills submitted involve the 2025 State Education Bill and a 2025 law to rename the Audu Bako College of Agriculture, Science and Technology in Dambatta.
The session also featured awards acknowledging progress in digital innovation, leadership, housing, healthcare, community growth, and aid for the underprivileged.
Waiya concluded by noting, “In addition, our development partners introduced a new vocational training scheme and donated a 32-seater coaster bus.”
