INEC Announces PVC Collection, Mock Accreditation Ahead of 2025 Anambra Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the timetable for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and the conduct of a mock accreditation exercise in preparation for the forthcoming Anambra State Governorship Election scheduled for November 2025.
According to a statement signed by Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, on Monday, the PVC collection exercise will begin on Wednesday, October 22, and run until Sunday, October 26, 2025, across all Registration Areas (Wards) in Anambra State.
Eta-Messi explained that the collection process is exclusively for voters who participated in the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. She emphasized that PVC collection must be done in person, noting that no proxy or third-party collection will be allowed.
“All eligible voters who registered or transferred their registration during the CVR are advised to visit their respective Registration Areas to collect their PVCs. The Commission will not permit collection by proxy,” the statement read.
INEC described the exercise as a vital step toward ensuring that all registered voters are fully prepared to participate in the election. The Commission also reassured the public of its readiness to conduct a transparent, credible, and inclusive electoral process.
“This exercise is a crucial opportunity for voters intending to participate in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election. We urge every eligible voter to seize this opportunity to obtain their PVCs and verify their details,” the Commission added.
In addition to PVC collection, INEC announced that a mock accreditation exercise will be conducted across selected polling units in the state ahead of the election.
The exercise is aimed at testing the functionality of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and ensuring smooth deployment of election materials and personnel on election day.
The Commission said details of the mock accreditation, including the specific locations and dates, will be released in due course.
INEC further reiterated its commitment to voter sensitization and engagement, assuring Anambra residents that the Commission is working closely with civil society organizations, security agencies, and traditional institutions to ensure a peaceful and credible election.
Political analysts say the early release of the PVC collection and mock accreditation dates is part of INEC’s strategy to enhance voter participation and minimize logistical challenges ahead of the polls.
The 2025 Anambra governorship election is expected to be one of the most closely watched contests in Nigeria’s political calendar, as major political parties prepare to battle for control of the state.
