ADC Suspends South-South Vice-Chairman Usani Over Anti-Party Activities

The Cross River State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the suspension of its National Vice-Chairman for the South-South region, Usani Uguru Usani, over alleged anti-party activities and insubordination.

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by the party’s State Chairman, the ADC said the decision was reached after a series of petitions and internal reviews found Usani guilty of actions deemed detrimental to the unity and progress of the party.

According to the statement, the suspension followed a meeting of the State Executive Committee, during which members deliberated on reports accusing the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs of engaging in activities contrary to the interests of the party at both state and national levels.

“After due consideration of the evidence before us, the Cross River State Executive Committee of the ADC has resolved to suspend Usani Uguru Usani with immediate effect.

His conduct amounts to gross misconduct, insubordination, and violation of the party’s constitution,” the statement read in part.

The party further alleged that Usani had been involved in unauthorised political engagements and had consistently disregarded directives from the national leadership, thereby undermining the ADC’s internal cohesion and public image.

Usani, who served as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs between November 2015 and May 2019, has been a prominent political figure in Cross River State.

Before his suspension, he was instrumental in mobilising support for the party across the South-South geopolitical zone.

The statement added that the matter has been referred to the ADC’s National Working Committee (NWC) for ratification and further disciplinary action in line with the party’s constitution.

As of the time of filing this report, Usani has not responded to the allegations or the decision of the party.
