Plateau APC Endorses Tinubu for Second Term

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, citing his performance and inclusiveness in governance as key reasons for their support.
The endorsement was announced during a well-attended stakeholders meeting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, bringing together top party leaders including the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshewe; former Governor and leader of the party in the state, Senator Simon Bako Lalong; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase; former Governors Joshua Dariye and Dame Pauline Tallen; and the Managing Director of the North Central Development Commission, Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil.
Also in attendance were serving and former lawmakers, local government party officials, and hundreds of enthusiastic party supporters.
The motion to endorse President Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election was moved by the former APC Deputy National Secretary, Barr. Festus Fuanter, and seconded by the Plateau State APC Woman Leader, Hon. Alice Dimlong.
The motion received unanimous approval from the stakeholders.
In a similar move, Fuanter also proposed a motion rejecting any attempt by Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang to defect to the APC, which was equally adopted unanimously.
Speaking at the event, Senator Simon Lalong hailed the decision as a reflection of the party’s confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, noting that his administration has shown commitment to national unity, economic recovery, and inclusiveness.
“President Tinubu has not only worked hard to touch the lives of Nigerians but has also carried Plateau State along in his government.
From appointing me as his campaign Director-General in 2023 to elevating one of our own, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, as National Chairman of the APC, the President has shown genuine love for our people,” Lalong said.
He added that the APC in Plateau is now more united than ever, with all internal differences resolved and several members who previously defected to other political parties returning to the fold.
APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshewe, in his remarks, commended Plateau APC members for their loyalty and confidence in President Tinubu, describing the endorsement as well deserved.
“The President has revived Nigeria’s economy, restored investor confidence, and repositioned the country on a path of sustainable growth,” Yilwatda said.
He also expressed gratitude to Plateau people for their overwhelming support during the recent burial of his late mother, adding that the show of solidarity strengthened his belief in the unity of the APC family.
Prof. Yilwatda revealed that the APC will soon unveil an empowerment initiative targeting youths, women, and vulnerable groups, including a ₦100 million “Youth Business Challenge” set to launch next week.
He further announced that the party has scheduled October 30, 2025, for a major rally to welcome decampees from other political parties, with Vice President Kashim Shettima expected to attend as special guest.
The event’s organizing committee will be chaired by Architect P.D. Gyang, a member of the APC Elders Committee.
Earlier, Plateau APC Chairman, Hon. Rufus Bature, welcomed the leaders and praised the growing unity within the party.
Former Deputy Speaker Idris Wase urged members to shun internal wrangling and gossip, warning that division only weakens the party’s strength.
Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daniel Naanlong Gapyil, also commended the reconciliation efforts, saying the renewed unity would strengthen the APC’s chances ahead of the next election cycle.
Former Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, lauded the stakeholders’ meeting as a sign that the APC is “waxing stronger and ready to reclaim Plateau State.”
The meeting ended with a strong message of solidarity and renewed determination to support President Tinubu’s administration while positioning the APC as the dominant political force in Plateau State.
